We aim to create a fairer society for absolutely everyone.

We’re an open Network of individuals from all walks of life, including people with lived experience, frontline workers and strategic leads. We come together regularly to innovate and collaborate.

Together we have started the conversation about how to do things differently, and everyone’s invited to join and have their voice heard.

The York MCN Network started in 2017, and 5 years later, we continue to navigate the systems in York that effect those who experience multiple disadvantage. Through cultivating cultural values, and nurturing connections between sectors, we continue on our journey to making York a better place. We’re not always going to get it right, be we aim to be radical, compassionate and make real change.

A snapshot of the financial impact on York in 2018

As a city, York spends £10 million less than we’d expect per year.

How did we work this out?

There are approximately 390* people across York experiencing multiple complex needs.

With an average spend per person of £30,000**, we’d expect the city to be spending £11.7 million. The actual spend in 2018 was £1.2 million.

* 190 individuals received discrete MCN support in 2018 (AOT, Pathways or MEAM). 200+ individuals were estimated through Local Coordination needs analysis in 2018. This was extrapolated from 3 wards to all 22 across York combined. 390 tallies with Hard Edges (2014) research which estimated 300-600 for City of York.

**Conservative estimate based on national research, including: £17,000 - £45,000 (Fulfilling Lives), £19,000 (Hard Edges 2014, stated as an underestimate), £36,696 - £43,500 (national MEAM network) and £69,000 local case study (Housing).

We are working to update these figures. If you would like to see the extended research around this, please get in touch.
