Our shape is constantly evolving.

Social problems can be messy, entangled and complex.

There's little formal evidence to inform how we should move forwards, and no clear precedent for those who are doing this type of work.

We have been feeling our way through this, capturing information, facilitating discussion and learning from a multitude of people. This is so we can tell our collective story of change as authentically as possible.

We collate data, information and stories to drive learning and adaptation. We aim to share all of this in a way which resonates with people in York.

We build and develop skills and capacities. We run training and workshops on a range of topics, providing those around us with the tools they need to harness change.

We aim to provide a safe space to talk. We regularly drive collaborative conversation through our Network Meetings. This creates a focus point for new and ongoing work.

We speak to and engage with the wider community.

We are experimenting with different ways of working. We use systems thinking to understand the nature of the complexity of the system in York, bringing a new perspective to collaborative working.

We multiply and strengthen connections. We initiate and facilitate relationships between different individuals, organisations, initiatives, projects, and strategic boards.

Together we observe the current system in the moment and question why things are as they are. We plan to make change, take action, and then reflect.

Our Process

Allowing everyone’s views and voices to be heard can often take a long time. To help with this, we use collaborative processes proven to work over long periods of time. One method we have used is the ‘8 Breaths of Process’ model from The Art of Hosting.
